چکیده

THE ESTIMATION OF PLASMA VOLUME has become a very useful and widely applied tool in the diagnosis and treatment of clinical aberrations of water and electrolyte distribution. Methods utilizing the dilution of radioactive iodinated serum albumin (BISA), have been studied and applied extensively, and most of the strictly methodologic difficulties have been overcome. One step, however, that of injection of the RTSA dose, is difficult to accomplish quantitatively in some instances-i.e., small amounts of the dose may be deposited at or about the site of injection (perivascularly or subcutaneously, or even on the clothing or bedclothes), altering the final result to a falsely high plasma volume. In order to be able to recognize this “loss error,” a suitable inexpensive gamma radiation detector was sought. A pocket radiation meter* was purchased which proved to be too insensitive by several orders of

Optimized Blood Volume Monitoring during Hemodialysis Procedure based on Ultrasonic Speed Measurement

Fast reduction of blood water volume due to ultra-filtration via hemodialysis machine and critical threshold of blood water volume can result in clinical complications such as hypotension. When blood water volume reduces during hemodialysis process, the concentration of blood forming elements will increase. One of the methods for the monitoring of the concentration changes is ultrasonic speed m...

Efficiency determination of HPGe detector by simulation and experimental methods for solid volume source

Analyzes of environmental samples regarding their radioactivity is of important concern for health purposes. We need standard sources to determine radioactive components and their activities. These sources are usually produced regarding type of the sample. One of the fundamental and precise tools to recognize radioactive materials and their activities is HPGe detector. To reach this goal, the d...

C-Arm Flat Detector CT Parenchymal Blood Volume Thresholds for Identification of Infarcted Parenchyma in the Neurointerventional Suite.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE C-arm flat detector CT parenchymal blood volume imaging allows functional assessment of the brain parenchyma in the neurointerventional suite. This study aimed to determine the optimal C-arm flat detector CT parenchymal blood volume thresholds for demarcating irreversibly infarcted brain parenchyma by using areas of restricted diffusion on MR imaging as a surrogate marker...

A simple method for measuring glomerular filtration rate in dogs.

A technique for measuring glomerular filtration rate (by six-sample plasma clearance) and extracellular fluid volume is described. The results obtained for glomerular filtration rat per extracellular fluid volume with a three blood sample technique are also presented. Concurrently with the blood sample techniques measuring plasma clearance, glomerular filtration rate per extracellular fluid vol...

Utilizing flat-panel detector parenchymal blood volume imaging (FD-PBV) for quantitative kidney perfusion analysis during the process of percutaneous transluminal renal angioplasty (PTRA)

Rationale: Traditional digital subtraction angiography (DSA) provides lumen morphology of renal artery as indicators for vascular patency in patients with renal artery stenosis (RAS). It, however, lacks hemodynamic information toward target kidney. To solve this shortcoming, a novel technique, flat-panel detector parenchymal blood volume imaging (FD-PBV), is introduced, which is able to evaluat...
